Why and how to install a Cold Air Intake Performance

Why install a cold air intake? The theory behind this is simple, tough machine that should work to get the air through the intake tubes and air filter, the more gas will be wasted in the process. Therefore you need to allow the air engine as many times as desired. So, why not replace the OEM filter with filter performance? Because of the restriction can occur between the air filter and the engine reducing the benefit of filter performance. The weakest Link in the "chain" robs the air flow its natural horsepower vehicles. Often a weak point is the factory air path to the engine. A high quality air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the air filter and the air lines to the whole machine. The reason for cold air. Cold air is more dense than air is warmer and more will expand when heated. This led to "an explosion" in your engine produces more power. That's what you want to hear right? More power! Cold air intake designed to take in air at a point under the hood where the air would be cool and remove as many restrictions of air flow possible. Many people report improvements in fuel economy after the installation. Although you will not find a manufacturer who will guarantee this, more fuel efficient and more big burn "blast" to let you see how improved fuel economy is definitely a possibility. Plus, they make awesome "crackly" sound. Just a little deep rumbling when accelerated to remind you and let others know that your trip can certainly talk the talk and walked the walk.

Why K & N? Because that is better than the inventor. K & N Engineering, located in Riverside, California, is the inventor and leading innovator of cotton gauze reusable filter technology for automotive applications. From its humble beginnings as a family run business for over 35 years ago, K & N engineering, now a company that is truly global with offices in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, continues to exist as a family-owned business with the mindset of enthusiastic and direct connection with motor sport which brings more around the level of management and manufacturing.

Today, K & N exists as both sales and brand leader for performance filters, and maintains a stocking catalogue of over 3,500 part numbers, including an extensive line of both factory replacement drop-in filters, FIPK (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) applications, and a line of innovative Performance Gold oil filters.

We chose the Kit 77 Series Intake. Like most of our consumers liked the way finished polished aluminum look. This Kit comes with an oversized high-flow air filter cones are designed to provide increased surface area and dust capacity. The extra surface area provides even more airflow at lower restriction because it is not limited to the size of the factory air box. The oversize air filter also captures more dirt increasing the service life before a cleaning up any required (up to 100,000 miles). Our kits include a heat shield that is designed to seal against the hood and isolate air intake from engine heat. Provides cool air to the engine will increase the horsepower produced. K & N uses adapter kits are made from high strength materials such as Silicon and reinforced nylon to guarantee a long life. They were even kits come standard with powder coated steel brackets and if the instructions are not in the box just check their website for a PDF version.

Is this a DIY project? This is definitely something you can do in an hour or so. If You are not comfortable, not stressful, a mechanic You can handle. Disconnect the negative battery cable and the air mass sensor. Remove the cover of the machine, remove the crank case vent hose, remove the intake tube stock, and Assembly of clean air. Air mass Sensor is the only thing that you will reuse all of it. Filter adapter, install the "L" bracket, and trim the edges on a new heat shield. Remove the grommet that plugged into the air box. You have to test a heat shield and in accordance with the mark for mounting holes. Drill holes, insert and secure the new mounting grommet shield heat. Install the hose of silicone on the adapter filter and throttle body. Air mass sensor Assembly install the silicone hose on the hose adapter and filter the lump. Install the intake tube between the air mass sensor and the throttle body. Install the crank case vent hose new between ventilation and fit on the intake tube. Install the engine cover K & N filters, and plug it back in the air mass sensor and install the battery negative cable. And installation is complete.
